Helping children with heart disease

The Radomyshl Sanatorium School of the Zhytomyr Regional Council is a municipal general secondary education institution for children with diseases of the cardiovascular system requiring long-term treatment, which provides general secondary education and health restoration for students, as well as medical care. As of now, 162 children are enrolled in the school.

General secondary education and medical care at the sanatorium school are provided free of charge to students at the expense of the state and regional budgets and philanthropists.  

The main task of the sanatorium school is to restore and strengthen children's health in combination with general education and provide them with qualified medical, psychological and pedagogical assistance. Children aged 6 to 17 years with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases participate in the educational, therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitation process at the school.

Based on the results of the medical examination, the children are divided into 3 dispensary groups: cardiology group – 95 children, ENT group – 37 children, and neurology group – 3 children. The following medical rooms are in operation: functional diagnostics, physiotherapy, dental, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, physical therapy, manipulation, massage, and a "salt room".

The equipment of these rooms is morally and physically outdated, does not meet the requirements of today and is in critical need of a speedy upgrade. That is why we decided to help this educational institution and with the support of you, the benefactors, to update the much-needed equipment for the treatment of children.
