Help for Maksymko
There is a possibility that Maksym inherited diabetes from his grandmother, who suffered from this serious disease for half his life and died barely reaching the age of 50. Maksym was born a healthy child, but at the age of one and a half he was admitted to the intensive care unit in a serious condition with extremely high blood sugar. For five days, doctors brought him back to life and finally discharged him home with a diagnosis of insulin-dependent diabetes of the first type.
Of course, it was extremely difficult for the mother to imagine her son's future life with such a diagnosis. But time passes, and the parents get used to the peculiarities of the lifestyle in the new realities. Maxim is a lively child, he loves to sing, dance, and play football. For four years now, his mother has been taking care of the boy and has not been able to find a job. Only the father works in the family, he is a handyman. The family lives in a village in Poltava region. They barely have enough money to live on.
A child with this diagnosis needs everything different from a healthy child. Separate food, constant sugar measurements 20 times a day, insulin injections 4-5 times a day. You also need to buy syringes, test strips, puncture wires, lancets and some medications. All this is very exhausting for an ordinary family. But there is no money for sensors that provide constant monitoring of sugar levels and prevent these complications. This means that Maksym has to endure 20 finger punctures every day. And without a guarantee of reliable control at night. So the family needs help.
