Sofia is a little girl for whom every day begins with a struggle. The little girl was a little over a year old when doctors made a difficult diagnosis – type 1 diabetes. This is an autoimmune disease that has forever changed the life of the whole family. Since then, every day she has been under insulin control, and every night – at risk of dangerous fluctuations in blood sugar. To avoid dangerous hypo- and hyperglycemia, Sofia needs 24-hour glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting, proper insulin distribution and regular examinations by doctors – an endocrinologist, cardiologist, nephrologist, ophthalmologist, etc. The child constantly needs sensors for measuring sugar, consumables, tests and medicines. And this is a huge financial burden for a family that is already going through difficult times.
Sofia's family are internally displaced persons from the city of Kharkiv who have lost their home and their usual life. Moving, constant stress, new conditions – all this significantly complicated the care of a child with such a complex disease.
Despite all the difficulties, Sofiyka is a cheerful, sensitive and very strong girl. She dreams of simple things: not to constantly measure sugar from her fingers, not to wake up at night from injections, to be more free in her childhood joys.
The family is turning to everyone who can help. The sensor will notify about dangerous glucose levels in time. This is a test that will save the little heart and kidneys. This is a chance for Sofiyka to live without constant fear. Any of your help is a step towards Sofiyka growing up healthy, smiling and protected.
Support Sofiyka, together we can help her live a full and safe life!
