Khrystyna is 17 years old and studies veterinary medicine at college. Since childhood, she has shown boundless love for animals, so she chose her future profession without hesitation.
Khrystyna was born a healthy child. She was always smiling, positive, and energetic.
After the full-scale invasion began, Khrystyna started having panic attacks. One day, while at home with her younger brother, the children witnessed powerful explosions over the town. A few days later, the girl was hospitalized. There, her blood sugar was measured for the first time, and the level was elevated. They decided to seek help from a psychologist, and after several sessions, her condition improved.
However, six months later, the girl's mother noticed a sharp weight loss, severe thirst, and frequent visits to the toilet. They went to the hospital to see an endocrinologist. After taking a blood sample to determine her blood sugar level, the endocrinologist immediately sent Khrystyna to the hospital with suspected type 1 diabetes. There, the diagnosis was confirmed. On the very first day, Khrystyna began insulin therapy.
In the first few months, it was difficult to come to terms with the fact that she now needed insulin and constant monitoring of her blood sugar levels. Khrystyna fell into depression, not knowing what to do next.
Now she has gotten used to having diabetes in her life, is not ashamed to show it, and openly shares it with others. Previously, at school, she was embarrassed to measure her blood sugar and take insulin injections because she felt her classmates staring at her. In college, Khrystyna was lucky with her classmates. They know about her condition and do not bully her because of it.
However, it is difficult to combine studying with constant blood sugar monitoring. Therefore, in order to monitor and compensate for her condition, Khrystyna needs sensors to measure her blood sugar. However, her family cannot afford to provide her with sensors every month. That is why her mother is asking for help.
