Let's help a young man from an IDP family!
Artur is already a teenager, he is sixteen. Like most children with diabetes, he was born a healthy boy. In kindergarten, he often got sick with acute respiratory infections, but almost everyone goes through this. At the age of six, Artur started doing sports – taekwondo and kickboxing, and attended chess clubs. The boy also did well at school. But in his life came this terrible day of the beginning of a full-scale war, when his family had to flee Kherson. Doctors say that this could have been stressful for Artur and the beginning of the development of incurable insulin-dependent diabetes. Artur took the first weeks of the war very hard, and the young man was even more worried about his father, who is defending our country.
His mother and Artur moved to a village in the Lviv region. A few months passed, and she noticed that her son began to lose weight and drink a lot of water, but she did not react immediately. When Artur's test results came back, the doctors immediately sent him to Lviv. Type 1 diabetes is a very serious disease that affects almost all human organs, with the eyes, kidneys, blood vessels and legs being the most affected. Round-the-clock blood sugar monitoring helps to minimize the impact of the disease on the child's body. The sensors alert to hypo/hyperglycemia, which can lead to coma, especially at night when the child is asleep and does not feel the change in sugar levels.
Artur's family cannot afford to buy expensive sensors for the young man, so his mother turns to us for help.
