Mariyka has been suffering from severe diabetes for almost three years. Constant fluctuations in glucose levels have caused complications in her vision and kidneys. It is very important to use a sensor that automatically measures sugar levels every five minutes and alerts her in critical situations.
In accordance with cooperation agreement No. 21 between the Ukrainian Charity Exchange and the charity operator Pomagaem Charitable Foundation dated 31 August 2020 and supplementary agreement No. 21. 275 dated 16 August 2024, the project ‘Let's help Mariyka overcome her illness’ was posted on the website dobro.ua with the aim of attracting charitable donations to pay for the treatment of Mariyka Boiko.
During the fundraising, it became necessary to use part of the funds collected on the website of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation – dobro.ua – to purchase some of the sensors and infusion sets for the girl. Therefore, according to letters No. 556 dated 27 September 2024 and No. 8 dated 9 January 2025, we received the collected amount of UAH 23,478.00 (twenty-three thousand four hundred and seventy-eight hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and UAH 18,600.00 (eighteen thousand six hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to the Fund's account and continued fundraising on the dobro.ua platform.
In 2024, we purchased Guardian Sensors and MiniMed Quick-Set infusion sets for Mariyka in the amount of UAH 23,478.00 (twenty-three thousand four hundred seventy-eight hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and in January 2025, we paid for Guardian sensors worth 18,600.00 UAH (eighteen thousand six hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
In June this year, the girl's transmitter broke down and she was unable to use the sensors. Therefore, it became necessary to use part of the funds collected by the charitable organisation UBB - dobro.ua to pay for a Guardian Link 3 transmitter and an infusion set for Maria. Therefore, according to letter No. 278 dated 01.07.2025, we requested to transfer the amount of 41,600.00 hryvnias (forty-one thousand six hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) already collected to the Fund's account to purchase the transmitter and continue fundraising on the website dobro.ua.
However, the official supplier informed us that the transmitter was not available at that time. Its delivery was scheduled for no earlier than September 2025.
Later, when the transmitter became available, we sent another request to withdraw part of the funds in the amount of 53,778.00 UAH (fifty-three thousand seven hundred and seventy-eight hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to purchase sensors, a Guardian Link 3 transmitter and an infusion set for the girl, according to letter No. 558 dated 27 October 2025.
At the end of October this year, we purchased sensors, a Guardian Link 3 transmitter and infusion sets for Masha at a total cost of UAH 59,385.00 (fifty-nine thousand three hundred and eighty-five hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
The initial amount to be raised was 170,547.00 UAH (one hundred and seventy thousand five hundred and forty-seven hryvnias, 00 kopecks). When the entire amount needed to pay for Maria's treatment was raised on two information platforms: the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation and the Pomagaem Charitable Foundation, we requested that the fundraising campaign be closed and the amount of the project on the Ukrainian Charity Exchange be reduced to the amount actually raised – 158,306.00 UAH (one hundred and fifty-eight thousand three hundred and six hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and to transfer 20,850.00 UAH (twenty thousand eight hundred and fifty hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to our current account to pay for Maria's treatment and project administration.
In January of this year, we purchased and delivered Guardian Sensors, MiniMed Quick-Set infusion sets, and an insulin pump case for Maria for a total amount of 48,927.70 UAH (forty-eight thousand nine hundred twenty-seven hryvnias, 70 kopecks), and also paid for the administration of the project.
Thanks to the help of all caring people, Mariya can feel like a normal child, and her mother has been able to better control her blood sugar levels. This is important because it helps protect the girl's body from the destructive effects of hypo- and hyperglycaemia.
Her mother writes to us: ‘On behalf of our entire family and myself as a mother, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the caring people who have reached out to help my child. Your support has been invaluable in our fight against this disease. Your sensitivity and compassion are saving more than one family.’
Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child's needs.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners of dobro.ua for their help, and the UCE team for their many years of cooperation!
