Let's help preterm babies together!

Every year in Ukraine, thousands of children are born prematurely. Their little bodies are not yet ready for life outside their mothers' tummies, and every day becomes a real struggle for them. When a child is born prematurely, his or her body is not yet ready to function on its own. Such children are born weighing less than 2.5 kg, and sometimes even less than 1 kg. They face many dangers: underdeveloped lungs, unstable body temperature, a weak immune system, and the risk of serious infections. Their organs and systems are working at the limit of their capabilities, and every minute is critical.

Nursing these children is a multi-stage and extremely delicate job. The use of modern medical supplies helps to create the most comfortable and safe conditions for them, reminiscent of the womb.

As part of the project, we aim to purchase special equipment for infant nursing. 

1. Positioners (“nests”): create support for the baby's body, imitating the mother's womb. This promotes the development of proper muscle tone, improves breathing and digestion. They also reduce the risk of skeletal deformities and provide comfort.

2. Curtains for resuscitation tables protect the eyes of babies from bright light, which can cause irritation and impair the functioning of the immature nervous system, and help stabilize the psycho-emotional state of newborns.

3. Saturation sensors provide continuous monitoring of the oxygen level in the blood, which is vital for preterm infants. They also allow doctors to instantly respond to any changes in the child's condition.

4. Phototherapy glasses protect the sensitive eyes of newborns during the treatment of jaundice, which is a common problem in preterm infants.

The Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Perinatal Center of the Regional Council and Kharkiv City Clinical Maternity Hospital №6 will receive the aid.

Without proper care and equipment, preterm babies face serious complications that can affect their entire lives. Modern positioners, curtains, sensors and other equipment not only provide comfort but also allow medical staff to effectively care for these children, reducing the risk of complications and speeding up the recovery process.
