Ivan was born at term, but suffered severe hypoxia during birth. On his second day of life, he was transferred to the intensive care unit, where he remained on a ventilator for nine days. Upon discharge, the medical report noted that the child’s brain had sustained organic damage.
In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation “Ukrainian Charity Exchange” and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation “POMAGAEM,” dated August 31, 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 369 dated May 6, 2026, the project “Let’s Help Vanya with Rehabilitation” was posted on the website of the International Charitable Foundation “UBB” (dobro.ua) with the aim of raising donations to cover the cost of Ivan Kuleba’s treatment.
The initial fundraising goal was 24,203.00 UAH (twenty-four thousand two hundred three hryvnias, 00 kopecks). Once the full amount needed to pay for Ivan’s rehabilitation course at the Charitable Organization “Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, and Inclusive Education Center Named After St. John the Righteous” for Ivan had been raised on two fundraising platforms—the Charitable Organization International Charitable Foundation “Ukrainian Charity Exchange” and the Charitable Foundation “Pomagayem”—we requested that the fundraiser be closed and the project amount on the Ukrainian Charity Exchange be reduced to the amount actually raised—4,985.00 UAH (four thousand nine hundred eighty-five hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and to transfer the funds to our bank account to cover the costs of rehabilitation and project administration, in accordance with Letter No. 225 dated May 28, 2026.
Thanks to the funds we received, in June of this year we paid for part of Ivan’s rehabilitation at the Charitable Organization “Rehabilitation Center, PHYSICAL THERAPY, AND INCLUSIVE EDUCATION NAMED AFTER SAINT JOHN THE RIGHTEOUS” for a total amount of 4,985.00 UAH (four thousand nine hundred eighty-five hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
During the rehabilitation course at the “St. John Center,” which took place from May 13 to 26, 2026, specialists focused on improving Ivan’s overall physical condition through therapeutic exercise. A speech therapist worked on developing his ability to understand and form sentences using flashcards. A psychologist conducted sessions in a neuro-chat environment, where the boy solved logic puzzles. In addition, sensory integration exercises were performed to calm his nervous system.
Ivan’s mother expresses her sincere gratitude to everyone who helped her son undergo this rehabilitation, which has significantly contributed to his development.
Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the boy’s needs.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners at dobro.ua for their help, and the UCE team for their long-standing cooperation!
