There is no greater sorrow on earth than a child's serious illness, at least thats what a mother naturally thinks. However, even an incurable disease cannot diminish a mother's love. Just as any mother loves the unique features of her child, such as the shape of their eyes, hair color, or way of twisting words, a mother of a sick child loves their child's special traits. Living with this child is her life and happiness.

January 18, 2010, was the happiest day of Vita Vasilyuk's life from Rivne region because she gave birth to twins, Anyuta and Vitalik. However, this day also became the beginning of a difficult struggle. The children were born prematurely at 32 weeks. The woman gave birth to her daughter very quickly and heard her cry. But when the second contractions started, she was given anesthesia, and the worst happened: after the boy was delivered, he suffered from asphyxia. The doctors managed to resuscitate him, but...

Six days in intensive care with Vitalik, a month in pathology with both of them. Then, constant rehabilitation and medication. Searching for doctors. Sleepless nights. For three years, Vita did not know what New Year's celebrations were because she and Vitalik were always
admitted to the hospital for epileptic seizures throughout January. Everything ended with unfavorable prognosis from the doctors.

Vitalik has a long list of diagnoses: cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, combined contractures of the upper and lower limbs with severe and persistent impairment of limb function, localized (focal, partial) symptomatic epilepsy and epileptic syndromes with complex partial seizures, background retinopathy, retinal vascular changes, convergent strabismus, delay in psychomotor and motor development, absence of behavioral abnormalities, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, and others.

Vitalik is now 13 years old. His every day is filled with tasks that he must complete to live. He is very diligent in his studies, endures seven-hour infusions of anticonvulsant medications, injections, daily intake of antiepileptic drugs, speech therapy, massages and physical therapy, aquatic procedures - all of which are not only exhausting, but also very expensive. One and a half to two hours a day are spent on exercise and training.

This is a very difficult daily work, but it produces results. Vitalik's mother noticed that her son started watching cartoons and soccer, moving around in a walker under supervision, taking off his hat repeatedly and laughing as his mother put it back on. The positive dynamics in Vitalik's condition are particularly noticeable after rehabilitation at the International Clinic of Restorative Medicine of Professor Kozhavkin. He has already completed 34 courses there. The boy learned to turn the pedals of a stationary bike, became stronger in holding objects, became more active, motivated and expressed new emotions. The tone in his arms and legs decreased, making it
easier to change his diapers and clothes.

These rehabilitations must be regular in order to maintain all of Vitalik's positive progress. Therefore, Vitaliy Vasiliuk is now looking for financial support to take his son to the clinic, as he does not have enough money to cover the cost of over 18,000 UAH.

Let's support this strong family!
