Little Eva was born without breathing, but her heart was beating as if fighting for her every breath. Two weeks of resuscitation on a ventilator, and then a difficult decision – a tracheostomy operation, because she could not breathe on her own. At three months old, the girl was discharged home, but she could only eat through a feeding tube until she learned to eat on her own at 8 months old.

Her struggle for life is a daily one. At 9 months old, doctors made a terrible diagnosis – Marshall-Smith syndrome, a rare genetic disease that requires constant medical care and rehabilitation. Since she was 6 months old, Eva has been regularly attending physical therapy, massages and osteopathy. It was only after a year that she started holding her head and sitting up on her own. Now Eva is 3 years old, but she still cannot stand or walk without help.

Every new day for Eva and her family is a challenge, but also a hope. Eva desperately needs constant rehabilitation and specialists to help her take her first steps in life.
