The war in the country continues, but despite all the difficulties it brought, a new life is born in Ukraine every day.

It is extremely difficult for mothers to take care of their babies in the conditions of war: in the absence of light, heat and running water. Poor and insufficient nutrition, lack of sleep, constant fatigue, stress, fear and anxiety are the new realities of Ukrainian women. And all this negatively affects both their psycho-emotional state in general and the ability to breastfeed their baby.

Artificial feeding with formula has several serious negative factors – first of all, the lack of elementary sanitary conditions and the realities of war. In warehouses, where you have to spend a lot of time, it is usually not possible to heat drinking or boil running water, wash and sterilize dishes. Power outages/cuts also make it difficult to preserve the mixture. And these are mandatory conditions that should be followed in order not to harm the baby's health. Studies show that almost 95% of infant deaths in emergency situations are the result of diarrhea due to contaminated water and unsanitary conditions. In the conditions of war, infant formula and clean drinking water may simply not be available, or parents may not be able to financially afford to purchase it, and this will lead to starvation of the baby.

Taking care of the preservation of breast milk is very important, because for a child it is not only nutrition, but also protection against infectious and respiratory diseases, which are common among babies in emergency situations. Breastfeeding reduces stress and anxiety in both babies and mothers, and close skin-to-skin contact helps women keep their babies warm. One drop of breast milk consists of thousands of living cells! Even a glass of the mixture does not contain any…

The goal of our project is to help mothers in Chernihiv region feed their babies with the most useful food for them by purchasing a KITETT(R) FISIO(R) PRO clinical breast pump complete with KOLOR(R) pumping sets and handing it over to the Maternity Hospital in Chernihiv. A clinical breast pump plays an important role in starting and maintaining milk production in a woman in labor, helping mothers maintain and establish breastfeeding.

Thanks to this project, at least 450 women and 450 babies (including premature babies) from the Chernihiv region will be able to receive help and establish breastfeeding, providing newborn babies with food and taking care of their healthy development in the future.

Together, let's help our women to take care of healthy babies, because they are the future of Ukraine!

*The full name of the medical facility is "Maternity Hospital" of the Chernihiv City Council.
