Let’s help Oleksandr live

On April 28, 2026, the project “Let’s Help Oleksandr Live” was posted on the dobro.ua platform of the International Charitable Foundation “UBB,” with a total goal of 372,900.00 UAH to fund Oleksandr Fedchyshen’s treatment at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital. On August 27, 2026, fundraising for the project was suspended and the target amount was reduced to 160,631.45 UAH, as funds from other sources had been secured to carry out the project. The goal of the project was to raise funds for a boy with a complex diagnosis—“MVR: VVR of the fetal CNS: occipital meningencephalocele with rupture, post-surgical condition (November 24, 2025), internal hydrocephalus (post-implantation of a right internal ventricular shunt on January 16, 2026). Severe cystic encephalomalacia of both cerebral hemispheres. Arnold-Chiari malformation. Intrauterine hydrocephalus in a newborn, cerebral depression syndrome. Symptomatic epilepsy. Sequelae of previous encephalitis against a background of neonatal bacterial sepsis.”
This condition was life-threatening for Oleksandr. Based on MRI and CT findings, signs of intracranial hypertension, and evidence of ventricular system separation, the child underwent several stages of neurosurgical procedures, including STEALTH-guided endoscopic ventriculostomy, implantation of an intraventricular shunt and a lateral shunt with antibiotic-impregnated catheters following cerebrospinal fluid decontamination, using specialized consumables.
