Let's help Taras return to an active life!

The goal of our project was to raise funds to finance the treatment of Taras Sitnyk, who was in the neurosurgical department of St. Nicholas Hospital. Taras could not feel his legs due to the compression of the spinal canal as a result of a road accident. Only an operation to install a special structure could help him. Our initiative involved providing assistance to Taras's adoptive family in paying for a set of Socore system implants to stabilize the spine. Taras Sitnyk is an orphan. After the death of his parents, he and his brother were taken into the care of his aunt, who has three children of her own. The cost of Taras' treatment was a large amount for the adoptive family - 99,200 hryvnias. For help in purchasing a set of implants, the aunt turned to BF "Zaporuka".

The set of implants was transferred to Taras's guardian, Irina Lozova, by the Acceptance-Transfer Act dated July 30, 2024. After transferring the Socore system to stabilize the spine, Taras underwent surgery.

The operation lasted 4 hours. It was conducted by neurosurgeons Taras Mykytyn and Yuriy Kuzminskyi. They needed to replace a broken vertebra in his lower back and release a compressed spinal cord. The operative intervention was successful. The very next day, physical therapists began working with the young man, and he took his first steps after the accident.

On the fifth day after the operation, Taras was discharged from the hospital. He walked home on his own. The guy says that at the moment he does not plan to get behind the wheel of a motorcycle, he will ride a bicycle. Doctors say that after the final recovery, he will even be able to play football, which he loves so much.
