Help Damyr with his treatment! 2

Damyr is only 6 years old and lives with autism. His story began in the first months of his life, when his parents noticed the first signs of deviation from the generally accepted developmental norms. Although he started sitting and crawling at 6 months old, some moments were alarming – the boy did not respond to his name and did not make eye contact. At 10 months old, Damyr took his first steps, but walked on his fingers. Any manifestation of emotions, including crying, was difficult to control and calm.

Worried parents went to the doctor, but received assurances that the child was fine. However, the problems continued to accumulate, and when Damyr entered kindergarten, the psychologist and speech therapist at the institution noticed the boy's behavior and referred him for additional examination. As a result, the boy was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

The search for specialized help led the family to a neighboring town, where Damyr was examined by specialists. However, the consultations did not yield any significant results, and the boy's condition did not improve. The turning point for the family was the evacuation from their native Lysychansk in March 2022 due to the hostilities. After moving to Kyiv, they turned to local specialists who confirmed the diagnosis of autism and prescribed rehabilitation and classes with highly specialized specialists.

After completing the rehabilitation course, Damyr showed significant improvements: he became more focused, attentive and cooperative, and his vocabulary increased significantly. However, in order to continue his improvement, the boy needs a new rehabilitation course, which requires financial support. Damyr's family are internally displaced persons (IDPs) and do not have enough money to pay for further treatment.
