Quarantine and closed borders generally protect our people mitigating the threat of COVID-19. And, first of all, it is in the interests of the most vulnerable – seriously ill people, who are at risk. But at the same time quarantine has brought a great threat to the same people. Vital things disappear from sales. There are no new supplies. How long should one wait? Nobody knows. All Pari equipment also disappeared. But people living with cystic fibrosis cannot live without numerous daily inhalations – they quickly start to choke.

We try to protect those who have their inhalers fail during the quarantine period. It is not possible to get Pari now, so we want to buy at least existing devices of simpler model. They will help to hold out until the borders are opened.

Cystic fibrosis is a congenital disease and is currently incurable. It disrupts the activity of all internal organs and systems, and the lungs suffer the most. They are constantly clogged with viscous sputum, which is easily inhabited by pathogens of various infections, the airways are clogged so much that there is no room for air. Only daily inhalations, combined with exercises, help to keep it under control. This means that a person with cystic fibrosis cannot have a day without inhalation.

The inhalers we plan to purchase as part of this project are not fully suitable for the patients with severe and moderately severe cystic fibrosis; inhalation with the help of them is less effective and requires higher consumption of medication. Yet, it is the solution. The continuity of treatment courses will allow our patients to take it to the moment, when it is possible to buy usual high-quality high-power devices for them.
