Help not to get to boarding school!

Lyonchik and Lyonushka – so affectionately call his parents. He is 5 years old, but so far he speaks only individual words. He is five, but in his family, he is 4 years old. Prior to that, he lived in the Krivyi Rih Children's House. In June 2014, he met Yulia and Vadim, and in July he became their son. And in the autumn after the examination, the audiologist, without particularly choosing the expression, told mom and dad: “Your child does not hear. He will lag behind in development and the boarding school shines for him". 

That the baby doesn’t turn around in the name, Julia noticed in the House of the Child. But since Lenya didn’t go a year and 2 months, they decided that this developmental lag was not enough, as there’s little to do with the kids in the orphanage. Lenechka had a long list of diagnoses in the map, among which the mother was most afraid of bacterial meningitis, transferred soon after birth. No one even suspected hearing problems. Heard in the audiologist's office was a shock for Julia and Vadim. They were then helped a lot of familiar and not familiar people. A disability was issued on an expedited basis and at the end of October, a cochlear implant was installed at the budget expense: out of turn, because an auditory cochlea could have suffered due to bacterial meningitis.

The implant was tuned, and Leon began to hear. It took months and years of continuous rehabilitation for the baby to begin to pronounce words and sounds. His family lives in Novomoskovsk, and his parents take their son to Dnipro to attend two speech therapists. Now joins the third. All the efforts of the father and mother are focused on one thing: Leon must go to a regular school in Novomoskovsk. Leaving him in the Dnieper boarding school for the hearing impaired for five days, Julia and Vadim are not ready. Lenchik still never wants to stay overnight at his grandmother, and after each trip, just in case, specifies: “And home?” For the whole year, he lived in the baby house, but he still fears that he may be betrayed again.

In order for Lenya to go to a regular school, you need to understand speech and speak well. Talking with one implant does not work. Therefore, the parents decided to seek funds for the second "ear". 755 255 UAH this amount is necessary to pay for the baby implant (the device must be the same manufacturer as the first). Parents managed to collect 86 000 UAH and 669 255 UAH left to find, and as soon as possible. At UBB, we plan to collect UAH 500,000, the parents plan to attract the difference from other sources.

The last CT scan showed that the state of the cochlea makes it possible to place an implant, but the situation may change quickly. The operation is planned at the Kolomiychenko Institute of Otolaryngology NAMS of Ukraine. Maintenance and adjustment of the implant will be made by the supplier company during the first year as part of the implant warranty. Take the baby from the orphanage and after 5 years to give it back to the orphanage, already thawed and home, Julia and Vadim cannot do that. Let's just turn on the sound at full capacity for Leonid – and the capable kid will not need boarding! We believe in you!
