Help babies at the perinatal center

Every day, the perinatal center in Pokrovsk* receives women in labor from all over Donetsk Oblast. In 2022 alone, 42 premature babies were treated in the department, and 6-10 babies are treated every month. Since January 3, 119 babies have been born in the center who needed medical care. Every day doctors fight for their lives and health. In wartime, this work is especially important and significant. Every second counts here, and because premature babies are born very weak and need constant medical care and support, the quality and ability to save lives depends on the availability of modern medical equipment.

This medical facility remains the only perinatal center in the Donetsk region, and the staff has faced even more difficult conditions to save babies in this terrible time of war. They have equipped a bomb shelter on the 0th floor on their own and need to purchase 2 modern infusion machines for full functioning.

Infusomats (infusion pumps) are medical devices that allow you to accurately dose and control infusion therapy, which includes the introduction of drugs and fluids into the child's bloodstream. This therapy is mandatory when nursing preterm infants. Because only infusion pumps deliver intravenous fluid at a precisely calculated rate and protect the brain vessels from fluid overload. The pump also has a control and alarm system, as well as a built-in battery. All this ensures continuous operation of the pump during patient transportation or during a power outage, as well as monitors the proper operation of the pump, triggers an alarm, determining its cause.

The purchased medical equipment will allow doctors to continue working even in conditions that are unusual in peacetime, as women continue to give birth and the hospital tries to provide all the necessary medical care. 

Wartime has brought new challenges and tasks to all doctors. The medical staff is working hard and dedicated to provide the youngest patients with the best possible medical care.
