Yaroslav is 24 years old now. He was a usual child up to 11 years, he loved running, riding a bicycle. But then everything changed – spinal curvature has started. At the age of 12, the first fixation construction was placed to stop the rapid spinal deformity. The inhuman torments lasted for two years. The construction not only failed to be fixed, it went out just through the skin with screws and fixation tools. Septic wounds and fistulas along the spine ached incredibly. They had to remove the construction at Sytenko Institute in Kharkov in 2009.

Only 10 years later, Yaroslav decided to place a spinal implant again. IV degree kyphoscoliosis became a threat to his life, the spinal curve retracted heart and lungs. Thanks to the donators of Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, spinal fixation construction was placed in May 2018. The surgery was successful, Yaroslav gradually recovered, felt much better than before the surgery and believed that everything is in the past. But… in August 2018 he went to the rehabilitation and two weeks later he was delivered to the neurosurgery department of Odessa regional clinical hospital in an extremely hard condition. Bacterial culture of the paraspinal abscess found Staphylococcus aureus.

Despite the long administering of strong antibiotics and antistaphylococcus immunoglobuline therapy, the infection can’t be stopped for almost two years. Staphylococcus aureus spinal involvement causes strong pain with movement disorders. He remains in bed almost all the time. He needs to visit the surgeon, who operated him on. The clinic, where the surgeon works issued an invoice for 719 260 UAH. A family from the village with two more kids does not have such money. We ask all caring people to help collect the needed sum. Yaroslav truly believes that with your help he will be able to leave bed, that one day his suffering and physical pain will come to the end and he will be able to live an ordinary life!
