Touch of care: purchase of anti-bedsore products

The Caritas Nadvirna charity organisation has successfully implemented the project ‘Touch of Care: Purchase of Anti-Decubitus Products’, thanks to the active support of the community and fundraising through the dobro.ua platform of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange.

The aim of the initiative was to provide palliative care patients at risk of developing or having pressure ulcers with special care products. The project has become an important step towards improving their quality of life, reducing pain and discomfort, maintaining their dignity and facilitating daily care by relatives and social workers.

Thanks to the support of caring people through the dobro.ua platform, we managed to raise UAH 19,935, which is 100% of the planned amount. These funds were used to purchase 69 units of anti-decubitus products, including: anti-decubitus mattresses and pillows; hydrogel dressings; sets of plasters; special creams; and other care products that meet the needs of palliative care patients.

During the project implementation, the quantity and cost of the items was recalculated, taking into account the actual market prices at the date of purchase, as well as the actual needs of the wards. The names of the planned products were retained, and the changes concerned only the quantitative composition. The targeted use of funds was ensured in full.

All the purchased items were transferred to 15 clients receiving palliative care.

The implementation of this project has become an example of effective cooperation between a charitable organisation, donors and an online platform. The successful fundraising confirmed the importance of joining forces to address humanitarian challenges and inspires us to continue working to support the most vulnerable members of society.
