The young family was looking forward to having two daughters at once. The future mother dreamed of a house full of dolls and bright dresses for the girls who would be happy with her.

Unfortunately, childbirth began prematurely, with complications. One daughter suffered a brain injury, resulting in hydrocephalus. From birth, Mariyka was under doctor’s supervision: permanent therapies, surgeries, and rehabilitation with specialists. Until recently, the family tried to cope independently, but the war brought trouble that nobody expected. The parents have lost the financial ability to provide everything needed.

When Mariya started complaining of severe headaches and weakness again, the examination revealed that the shunt system had failed and needed replacement. Such a system is necessary to regulate pressure in case of hydrocephalus. The surgery will be performed at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv, in the Department of Neurosurgery. Then the child will be prescribed maintenance therapy. It costs money the family doesn’t have

Now the fight for the child’s life is like a second front. Understanding the situation, the parents ask not to miss their request for help. After all, children are our future. The bright future that the Ukrainian military is defending.
