Cerebral palsy and great achievements of Illia

Illia was born by Caesarean section with intrauterine lesion CNS at the Kyiv Oblast Center for Maternal and Child Health. He had been rescued in a resuscitation unit for newborns, where the boy spent 11 days, then almost a month in the neonatology department of the regional children's hospital of Boyarka city. Further – there were periodic courses of treatment in neurological departments. The boy developed slowly, but even doctors noted that he has unusual clever eyes. There were not any wishes to think about disability. Relatives carried with the child as they could. But in three years had to concede the disease of Illia.

Doctors diagnosed – cerebral palsy. Spasmodic tetraparesis. Development delay. To accept this was not too easy. Hereinafter, the psychologist explained to his relatives that for to start solving a problem – you need to accept and understand it. Kind people advised to knock at all the doors, and the family began to ask help to various specialists, were interested in the problem, different methods of treatment. It was necessary for the literal sense to introduce to the child everything, that in other children have been laid since birth, restore and fix it through constant training and repetitions, physical exercises and therapeutic massage. Of course, the result had came not immediately, there were different moments, but always were close a relatives and not indifferent people, who helped by what they can. In three years, Illya finally began to walk, holding hands, speak more or less connectedly.

In the clinic of Volodymyr Bersenev, Illia is being treated for the seventh year. The first course of treatment for Illia was held in 2012. Mother of Illia told me that already the first consultation at the Institute for Problems of Pain was explained to parents the causes of the illness of children, their consequences, the method of treatment and its positive results. And after the first year they noticed an improvement. Illya has started not just repeat the phrases, but express his thoughts, recall and talk about experience before, that is, began to think, to realize. Each subsequent course also brought its pleasant surprises. Now Illya is 11, he is studying at grade 5 of a secondary school for an individual program of Grade 2. He began to write, has studied letters, reads syllables, very inquisitive and fidget. His favorite desktop book is an encyclopedia about nature. He likes to engage in creativity: to sculpture from clay, to make applications of colored paper and felt, draw, sing, learns poems. He wants to learn to embroider with threads and beads. He copes with table tennis in the sports club for the disabled "Phoenix", riding a bicycle.

In October last year, it has been done a surgery – the subcutaneous elongation of the Achilles tendons on the right. Today his diagnosis is cerebral palsy. Right-sided hemiparesis. Although he now stands on the foot, but we still need to overcome the contracture. Illia's mother has long divorced with husband. Earlier, with the help of relatives, she paid for treatment, and now family does not have this opportunity. Mom and son survive on a small salary and the meager help of the state. Illya's treatment is vital, because now we are seeing a gradual positive dynamics, and stopping of the treatment can lead to a collapse, nullify all efforts and leave the child without prospects. And he still has so much to learn and develop! We believe that the plea from mother of Illya will has been heard and he will get a chance for further treatment.
