“Mom, when will I be able to run like the others?” is a question Serhii asks more and more often. Born in 2008, he has been struggling with cerebral palsy since the first years of his life. His every movement requires effort. And patience. And pain.
Serhii is a bright boy with a difficult fate. He lives with his mother, who raises and cares for him on her own. His father is not involved. The family is displaced from the completely destroyed Krasnohorivka in Donetsk region, where their house, apartment, memories and Sergiy's sports corner - a wall bars, dumbbells, a ball... remained. And also a bicycle, which he used to ride with joy on the street. Now they live together in a rented apartment. He has IDP status, a child with a disability, the status of a low-income family, and no humanitarian aid.
Despite this, Serhii is active and inquisitive. He wants to be “like everyone else”. He helps his mother at home and tries his best to become independent. But without regular rehabilitation, his efforts are not enough.
The guy needs intensive neurophysiological treatment every 3 months. It is these courses that give him a chance to stay on his feet, learn to walk better, fight pain and muscle tension. They support his body and spirit.
Serhii completed the last course in July 2025. And now he needs to go again, otherwise he will regress. But the treatment is expensive, and a single mom cannot afford to cover these costs.
We are asking for help. So that Serhii can learn to live as fully as his body allows. So that his faith does not break.
