This project was created as part of Vodafone Ukraine's charity program "A Good Deed as a Gift".
Every child's heart deserves to beat. However, every year in Ukraine, approximately 3,500 children are born with congenital heart defects, and for many of them, surgery is their only chance at life.
Today, medicine allows us to save children without pain, incisions, or scars.
Modern endovascular surgery involves doctors inserting a special heart implant (occluder) through a tiny puncture in the thigh. The very next day, the child can hug their parents and return home.
However, the cost of these implants is prohibitive for most families, as they are not covered by state funding.
This is where Vodafone Ukraine comes to the rescue with its charity program "A Good Deed as a Gift".
As part of this initiative, we launched the project "Two hearts – two lives".
Its goal is to raise funds to purchase two heart implants and give two children with congenital heart defects a chance at life.
Eva Chorna, born on January 25, 2022, Volyn region. Three-year-old Eva is an active and cheerful girl. Her parents had no idea about her heart defect until this year, when a routine examination revealed a patent ductus arteriosus. The diagnosis was confirmed by specialists at the Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Eva urgently needs surgery to close the defect. Due to the war, her father lost his job, and her mother, who has served in the National Police for over ten years, is unable to raise the funds for the implant on her own. The cost of the implant was 116,202 UAH.
