They will not survive two serious illnesses at the same time! Children with cystic fibrosis need meningococcal vaccinations. If a person with cystic fibrosis catches a meningococcal infection, it can be a verdict for him, because even a healthy person can be killed by the most severe form of the disease – meningococcemia – in 7-9 hours. Meningococcus should not be allowed to reach children and adults weakened by cystic fibrosis.

 The wards of our charity fund are children and adults with a serious illness caused by a genetic disorder. All the secretions in their body are much more viscous than normal, so the lungs are clogged with thick sputum, and food is not properly absorbed by the body. Treatment for this disease is expensive and lifelong – it's daily inhalations, pills and coughing, as well as frequent hospitalizations. Even if a person fully observes hospital prescriptions, his lungs' tissues are destroyed and body resources are exhausted every day… If such a person gets meningococcus – at best, treatment will be very expensive, long and difficult, and we even don’t want to write about the worst.

 Meningococcal vaccination is an additional vaccine, which means that the state does not pay for them. But it is considered basic in the Western and Central Europe. For people with cystic fibrosis, this vaccination is mandatory because their lives are at stake. We are raising funds to purchase vaccines in order to protect children and young boys and girls from meningococcal infection, and ask for your help in this good deed.
