Transfusion department at Children's Hospital "OKHMATDYT" daily provides donor blood and its components for 300 sick children. But now the children are left without quality blood products because supplies of pre-donor tests came to an end. There are cases when only a healthy donor blood can save a life. Blood and its components are needed whilst treating many diseases. Blood is needed in intensive care and during operations, accident victims, children with burns and injuries. Daily transfusions are necessary for children with hematology department and the department of transplantation. Saving their lives can’t go without donors’ blood.

Today there is a critical situation in the transfusion department of NCSH "OKHMATDYT" – micro-capillaries for taking blood from a finger that were purchased last year ended. New budget procurement of consumables is foreseen to take place at best in October. But without these thin glass tubes necessary checks of the donors’ blood cannot be provided.

These capillary tubes are used for blood testing prior to donoring. With the help of micro-capillaries small amounts of blood are taken and are checked on the special biochemical Express analyzer for ALT and bilirubin. It is more than 100 such checks have to be taken daily.

We plan to collect 6 714 UAH on UBB to purchase 6 packs of capillary tubes, which should be enough for 2-3 months.
