Five-year-old Kyrylo is the only child in his family. He was born at 40 weeks of pregnancy in Kharkiv, but the first minutes of his life were a struggle to breathe. Due to a tightly wrapped umbilical cord, the boy was not breathing when he was born.
The doctors managed to save the baby, but he spent the first 10 days on a ventilator and then in the neurology department. It was then that the first signs of cerebral palsy appeared. The doctors managed to save the baby, but he spent the first 10 days on a ventilator and then in the neurological pathology department. That was when the terrible words were first uttered: hypoxic-ischemic brain damage, pneumonia, hemorrhage in the left adrenal gland.
Every three months, Kirill underwent treatment at the city hospital. And at 11 months, he was given a new diagnosis: cerebral palsy. Each course of treatment bore fruit: before the start of rehabilitation, Kyrylo had poor attention, did not walk, did not talk, and spasticity restricted his arms and legs. Now the boy's attention and understanding have improved, he has learned to stand with support, and has also begun to walk independently.
However, the boy still does not speak, drags his right leg when walking, and can only climb stairs with adult support. But doctors are confident that Kyrylo has a good chance of becoming independent in everyday life. But this requires constant intensive physical rehabilitation.
Therefore, we are starting a fundraiser so that Kyrylo can undergo a course of treatment at a rehabilitation center and acquire new skills and abilities that will be a step towards his independent future. Your help brings the boy closer to the day when he will be able to walk confidently without outside support!
