Hot lunch: luxury or necessity?

We, the staff and kids of the centre “Together stronger” for children from crisis families are afraid of warm weather. The reason is that our food products will just get spoilt and we put so much effort to collect them. Today the products for children are kept on the cold windowsills. We know that it’s not a way out. Spring is coming soon, then summer, and there will be no cold places in the building. That is why we turn to you! Help us to purchase a refrigerator! Also we will be thankful for a microwave oven and an electric kettle which we do not have too!

The children centre “Together stronger” for kids from crisis families started its functioning in the CF “Caritas SDD UGCC” in September 2013. One of the most important services our children need is feeding. It is very difficult to work with children and try to teach them something when they are looking at you with hungry eyes. Therefore the first objective of our job is to provide them essential things such as hot meals. Staff of the centre organizes a lot of activities and charity actions to find food for children’s nutrition. Many people and institutions response to such requests and donate food. But we have one more important problem – to keep these products fresh. We need to purchase a refrigerator, a microwave oven and an electric kettle which are very necessary for providing children with hot lunches.

The things for which we are collecting costs will help us to make the process of children’s feeding much easier. Refrigerator will allow the centre to take any food in any quantity at any time of the year. Micro wave oven will allow even the youngest children to heat up the food by themselves. Thermo pot, a big kettle, that heats big quantity of water and keeps it hot for a long period will turn a usual process of tea drinking into a real small children’s holiday as it is very simple in usage, a person doesn’t need to lift the kettle but just to press the button. Appearance of these things will make children’s staying at the centre more comfortable. Besides the worker will have more time for doing other activities with children. These positive changes will for certain lead to an increase in the number of children at the centre which is also our preference.
