Humanitarian aid to displaced persons
Two families of migrants are waiting in turn inside the warehouse. Ten more are on the street. Someone is silent, someone tells how the house and the city were shelled. One girl can't stand it and shares her tears with us: "Sister, my sister with her husband, mother and child just escaped from Mariupol! They are already going through Ukrainian checkpoints. There was no contact with them for two weeks!".
The humanitarian staff of the POMOGAEM Foundation is located in the center of the Dnipro. In 2014, he was busy with work, handing out clothes and food to IDPs. When the active phase of the war ended, the range included clothing and footwear for low-income families.
And then came February 24, 2022, and the warehouse again became the main premises of the fund. 2014 and the pandemic are now remembered as a rehearsal for major events. Thanks to it, we were able to quickly and efficiently reformat the work in February.
The first settlers began to come to us in the second week of the war. There were more and more of them every day, and in the end, the distribution of humanitarian aid became continuous from the morning until the closing. Every day we accept 100-110 families. Despite the news, you can find out which cities have been actively shelled in recent days. A wave of immigrants from Volnovakha. Wave from Severodonetsk. Wave from Lysychansk.
Here is Julia from Kharkiv. She is the mother of three daughters, one and a half, 5 and 11 years old. Dad is defending his homeland, he fought under a contract in 2014, he promised not to leave his family again, but did anyone know that the cloud of war would come upon us again. Now he is at the front again, and Julia and her children are alone in the Dnipro. Helping her is very useful.
Sasha and Alina are a couple from Mariupol. They lived in bomb shelters for weeks, starving and thirsty, and lacking oxygen in a room full of hundreds of people. Under fire, they fled to a car that was to take them out of the city. But the worst was the two-week road from Mariupol through Mangush, long queues in cars and filtering. They endured, and we supported them.
Here is Igor from Popasna. His house was razed to the ground, his city was razed to the ground, no stone was left unturned. And with him his wife, little son and old parents. Of course, we help the family.
No one goes empty-handed. We always have clothes, but they are the least needed. The main thing that people need now: food, hygiene products, diapers and baby food. The last two positions are still regularly received with humanitarian aid from Europe. But products and hygiene products - not in the amount we need.
A set of products and hygiene products for one family costs UAH 800. We are raising funds for 550 such sets and for maintenance of the warehouse for one month.
Let's help them at least in the first days after the nightmare to be calm for their breakfast, lunch and dinner, have their own toothbrush and a bar of soap. Ukrainians do not give up, you have proved it a thousand times. We believe in our country!
