Hello! My name is Olga Feschenko. I’m from Kyiv. I’m asking you for your help to provide me with possibility to continue my treatment. I have a wonderful granddaughter, Sonia, who likes a sponge to absorb everything that I can teach her! We are drawing, singing and dancing with her. But we are separated by a trouble – I was diagnosed with breast cancer and very expensive treatment is needed. I’m 51, but I haven’t yet so much done.

On 1st October, I was operated from a tumor in a breast and diagnose cancer was got. The protracted treatment expects for me. The quarter of women with breast cancer need the same treatment as well as I do. But it can be provided to only in private clinic as the government didn’t allocate any funds to purchase necessary medications. Mostly, such treatment is included radial therapy and targeted medications.

I’m a business woman but due to my disease I am not able to conduct activity in an active manner. I’m selling the instruments for repair, importing them from abroad. My friends have already collected the money for operation and treatment – it is over 150 thousand UAH. But it’s still need more than 50 thousands UAH.

A few years ago, I tried to save my members of family from the cancer by myself. But I couldn’t to help neither my elder brother (tongue cancer) nor my mum (breast cancer). For me it became a shock and the more shock was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Therefore, my family insisted on my treatment in private clinic because of genetic positive family history.

Herceptin, which I was given, is available only in two private clinics. The government doesn’t purchase this medication, but it is required for women with aggressive breast cancer as I have. To stop growth of cancer cells and, thus, let me a chance to live longer and happier, therapy of targeted medication could manage with it. In this case, Herceptin is the most expensive medication. Basic treatment for me is included the following: to take medication of polychemotherapy every week + targeted therapy, which is going to end in the middle of April (started this year from 14.01 till 10.04 – every week). After completion this treatment, it should be followed by radiant therapy cycles and Herceptin one time in three weeks up to one year. I hope very much that UBB and kind people provide me an assistance to collect at least 50 thousand UAH.

The doctors say that one of the components of successful treatment is positive emotions and faith in recovery! My granddaughter Sophia is the most active member of my support group as well as all my family and friends! Today, I spend a lot of time not only for searching the funds for treatment but also for carrying out the charity meetings, tea parties, participating in TV-programs to tell many things about this crucial disease. My goal of doing this is to warn women about the prevention of breast cancer. I have begun to draw a lot – it was my hobby, but now I present my works to my benefactors. I would be very grateful you for your help to continue the treatment. God Bless you!

Sincerely yours, Olga.
