I'm the only helper of my mom!
Often we hear the phrase "Health is a blessing that money cannot buy". But what about those who really must buy health? When you know the cost of your only son's life but don't have money to buy medicines? And when you see that people would rather help little kids and are not so willing when you are 10 years older. Help the mother to save her child's life!
Vasia is a nice cheerful boy with the eyes of an adult. In course of treatment he got to know much about his diagnosis, his prognoses for recovery, the names of medicines that were even hard to read, let alone pronounce. Still the most important thing is that he has always been supporting his mother. Yes, you have read correctly: Vasia supports his mother and not vice versa. His cheerfulness and optimism inspire everybody around him. Vasia loves to be in the center of attention, to dance and to sing. Vasia goes to the Moldovan school but he learns the Ukrainian language and likes it. He is the winner of the language competitions.
In April 2013 Vasia played with his father and accidentally hit his head. After some time a swelling appeared in the place of the impact and there was painful too. The doctors detected a hematoma and decided to puncture it. But the pain increased and the tumor increased significantly. The doctors sent him to Kyiv, to the National Institute of Cancer. There a biopsy and a CT were performed. The diagnosis was shocking: rhabdomyosarcoma, a high risk group. The treatment began immediately and it consisted of chemotherapy, surgery aimed at removing the tumor and radiotherapy.
Vasia spent almost a year at the hospital, went through all the "pleasures" of treatment and was in the homestretch but... But it turned out that the patients of a high risk group had to undergo six months of supporting chemotherapy for the tumor not to grow again. When a child is treated at the hospital the state covers a part of expenses especially those regarding chemotherapy but after the discharge the parents have to pay for everything.
The family Bota asked the Foundation to help pay for treatment. They cannot buy so expensive medicines on their own. The family is low-income, the parents are now unemployed. The company for which they worked was closed. Nobody except the retired grandparents can help them.
