When gray is not a color, but a state of mind

Ivano-Frankivsk children's home is radically unlike any other nursing home or orphanage in the region. Bare walls with peeling paint and ceilings with crumbling plaster make it “stand out’. The windows are secured with rusty treillage, and creaking doors lead into the barren yard. Even the walk in the yard is dull and boring. Such luxury as a swing is like a distant dream.

There is no playground or even a sandbox. Children scrape hard ground with their toy shovels, or play ball in puddles, or very often just roam sadly around the building.

Enjoying childhood with no family is difficult even amidst excellent facilities. But such poor conditions of the orphanage and its facilities make life really miserable and unbearable for its inhabitants. Kind and caring, as the teachers are, they cannot replace family for these kids. Unfortunately, they are also unable to raise money to build at least a modest playground.

These children see the world very differently. They long for love, understanding and warmth, which they are missing. For them the word "MUM" - sounds like a prayer. Although their mothers are far away, and they might be alcoholics, or even prison convicts - the word "MUM" is so dear for these children. And yet so far-away...The only thing they have is their orphanage.

Employees of the Ivano-Frankivsk children's home and members of the You-Angel charity organization appeal to you for donations and help. Please assist us with the construction of children's playground!
