Until the age of 8, Sofiyka was an ordinary girl. She studied in the second grade of school, danced from the age of 4, was very active and had many friends. But in 2012, the girl's life changed radically: Sofiyka fell ill with a serious illness. It all started as an ordinary cold, but the girl's condition rapidly worsened. Later, Sofia ended up in the intensive care unit. She was in a coma for nine days, then another month on a ventilator. Finally, a month and a half later, the child left the intensive care unit with a severe diagnosis of meningoencephalitis caused by herpes virus infection.

This disease had catastrophic consequences for the girl's health and development. Sofia has lost the ability to speak, her behavior is like that of a small child. Apart from this, another problem is epilepsy.

Sofiyka has been trying to achieve remission from epilepsy for ten years, but this disease is very difficult to treat. Anticonvulsant drugs are constantly needed. Not all are available in Ukraine and not all can be obtained for free. And they are expensive for an ordinary family. Mother is raising Sofiyka alone. She does not have the opportunity to work, as her daughter needs constant round-the-clock supervision. They live on social benefits from the state, but this money is not enough for everything necessary for treatment. A woman begs for help.
