Instruments for children’s operating room
Every year, the surgeons at the National Cancer Institute’s Pediatric Department perform more than 200 complex surgeries including bone surgeries, that is removal of tumors and installation of endoprostheses, implants, and donor bones. Previously, quite often the doctors had to resort to amputations and then, thanks to new technologies, they were trying in every way to save children’s limbs and therefore their quality of life.
This saving depends not only on the skills and professionalism of the surgeon but also on the availability of the most up-to-date equipment in the hospital. The operating room of the National Cancer Institute’s Pediatric Department requires additional equipment that the state, unfortunately, does not provide.
Orthopedic surgeries require a set of special tools for the treatment of bone canals. The set can be used both for manual bone treatment and in combination with the electric devices available in the operating room. The kit also includes tools with different diameters allowing surgeons to work with different types of bones preparing them for implant installation or osteoplasty. If such a surgery is performed timely and of high quality, a kid with cancer does not lose a leg or an arm. Later on, he or she will be able to restore the functionality of the limb in case of further rehabilitation.
Let’s help children get back to normal after disease!
