Until the age of seven, Stas had no health problems. But then trouble struck the family: the boy started losing weight, drinking a lot of water, losing his appetite, and losing weight. The results of the tests were disappointing. Doctors diagnosed Stas with insulin-dependent diabetes. Then there was the hospital, acceptance of the disease, and attempts to adjust his life to the realities of the disease. For eight years now, the boy has been growing up under the influence of his disease.
He is studying at college to become a chef. Stas is a sociable guy, he has many friends. Stas likes to go fishing with his father, plays basketball with his peers.
Stanislav lives in a family where, besides him, there is another child with diabetes – his own younger sister. Only his mother knows what it is like to raise two sick children. Doctors assured her that diabetes is a way of life, but... The woman believes that doctors are wrong. Diabetes is very hard work that requires round-the-clock attention from parents. The mother became an endocrinologist for her children, even though she had no medical education. She and her husband both work and try to give their children everything they need for their lives. But this is not always possible. They do not have enough money to provide the children with equipment that would help them better compensate for the effects of the disease. Stas needs sensors for round-the-clock glucose monitoring, which his parents cannot provide him with.
