Karyna needs help with treatment

Karyna has been suffering from insulin-dependent diabetes since she was six years old. The girl's health problems began when she started school. A month into first grade, she started losing weight. The pediatrician recommended controlling her sugar level and prescribed a diet. And three months later, Karyna had a sharp complication. The girl was playing with the kids in the yard when her stomach started to hurt and she started vomiting. Her mother called an ambulance and Karyna was hospitalized. At the district center, doctors put her under intravenous drips in the endocrinology department. Soon, tests confirmed that the girl had insulin-dependent type 1 diabetes.

She got used to living in a strict regimen. Hospital beds are now an integral part of her life. The girl is injected with insulin 6 times a day, and her blood sugar is measured up to 10 times a day with a glucometer. Recently, Karyna was admitted to the hospital again. Her condition improved, and now she is at home with her younger nephew and her three cats.

Karyna lives in a village in the Kyiv region. School is hard for Karyna, but she is a sociable girl and draws well. She is the only daughter of her mother. The family also has grandparents. They are pensioners, and their help with treatment is very important. The girl's father died when she was only 3 years old. Her mother does not work and takes care of her daughter. Sometimes donors and philanthropists help Karyna with her treatment, because she does not have enough money for all the necessary treatment. Now she really needs help with her treatment, as there is a great need for sensors that help monitor her blood sugar level and condition.
