Seventeen-year-old Kateryna is an active and cheerful girl who was always on the move – going to school, training sessions, or meeting friends. She had many plans, dreams, and her whole life ahead of her. But at the end of May this year, everything changed in an instant.
That day, Kateryna was spending time with friends when she suddenly felt dizzy, lost her balance, and fell from a parapet approximately 2-3 meters high.
As a result of the fall, she suffered severe injuries, including a broken leg and damage to three vertebrae. Her condition required urgent surgery. Without spinal surgery, she could have permanently lost the ability to walk.
A special metal fixation system was needed for the operation. Thanks to an agreement with the supplier to postpone payment, the necessary materials arrived at the hospital in time.
On May 29, doctors performed an extremely complex spinal surgery that lasted more than six hours. Due to the severity of the injuries and the numerous bone fragments, the procedure was particularly challenging. Fortunately, after the surgery Kateryna retained sensation in her limbs, giving hope for a successful recovery. A few days later, she also underwent surgery on her leg.
At present, doctors remain cautious in their prognosis. Kateryna still faces a long road to recovery, including months of treatment and rehabilitation, in order to regain mobility and return to her normal life.
We kindly ask for your support in helping cover the cost of the metal fixation system that gave Kateryna a chance to recover from these severe injuries.
Please consider contributing to this fundraiser. Together, we can help Kateryna get back on her feet and return to a full and active life.
On the dobro.ua platform we are raising part of the required amount.
