Bilal from Zalishchyky in the Ternopil region cannot hear, speak or walk. His whole world revolves around his mum, Maryam, who is by his side every day, caring for him, hugging him and loving him. Right now, they desperately need support to provide the boy with six months’ supply of Resource Junior special formula.
In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAYEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. No. 348 of 21 January 2026, the project ‘Unique, but not defeated by illness.3’ was posted on the website of the International Charitable Foundation ‘UBB’ – dobro.ua – with the aim of raising donations to pay for Mohammad Bilal’s treatment.
During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the International Charitable Foundation “Ukrainian Charity Exchange” – dobro.ua – to purchase special dietary food for the young man. Therefore, in accordance with letters No. 48 dated 28 January 2026 and No. 148 dated 15 April 2026, we received the raised amounts of 17,000.00 UAH (seventeen thousand hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and 5,779.00 UAH (five thousand seven hundred and seventy-nine hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s account and continued the fundraising on the dobro.ua platform.
Thanks to the funds received, in February of this year we purchased and delivered to Bilal the special diet ‘Resurs Junior’ for a total of 11,317.50 UAH (eleven thousand three hundred and seventeen hryvnias, 50 kopecks), in March – to the sum of 5,682.50 UAH (five thousand six hundred and eighty-two hryvnias, 50 kopecks), and in April – to the sum of 5,779.00 UAH (five thousand seven hundred and seventy-nine hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
Bilal recently returned home following a difficult and lengthy course of treatment at the OKHMATDIT hospital. There, he underwent a colonoscopy and the removal of faecal stones, but the procedure proved to be complicated. During the medical procedure, his intestines and sphincter were significantly damaged, leading to a serious deterioration in his condition. In the first four days after the operation, the boy could eat almost nothing due to severe pain and weakness; he was suffering from a high fever, and the doctors were forced to keep him on a drip to support his body.
Unfortunately, shortly after returning home, the family faced yet another ordeal – Bilal and his mum contracted COVID. Despite the complexity of the situation, this time they managed to avoid hospitalisation: the course of treatment at home did, after all, yield results. Although the after-effects of the illness remain, they are gradually regaining their strength and have already started getting out into the fresh air.
As for the digestive system, the problems still require special attention. Every day, they have to resort to Macrogol and enemas to regulate bowel function. Despite all the difficulties, the family is trying to remain optimistic.
At present, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child’s needs, and the project is still raising funds.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners at dobro.ua for their help, and the UCE team for their long-standing cooperation!
