Kharkiv during the war. Food assistance for people with limited mobility
Every day, Kharkiv continues to live amidst the sounds of sirens and explosions. More than 1.3 million people still remain here, overcoming the challenges of war every day. Many have been able to adapt to the new realities, but some find it extremely difficult to do so.
People whose mobility is limited due to disability, old age, or serious illnesses are left alone with their problems. They have no means of surviving on their own. Either they have no relatives who can take them to a safe place, or they are completely alone in this world.
No one can go to the store for them, and it is extremely difficult to get humanitarian aid from volunteers. Many do not know how to use Telegram or Viber, and some do not even have a phone to find out about aid distribution. The explosions outside the window serve as a constant reminder of the danger that doesn't disappear for a single day, adding to the unrelenting fear for their lives. These people are faced with a choice that should never be: to wait silently for help or to wait for the end. They risk dying from hunger and disease in complete loneliness and helplessness. They are unable to take care of themselves.
We are currently raising 820,000 UAH to provide food kits for 1,025 elderly people, people with disabilities, or those with serious illnesses for a period of 3 weeks. Each food kit will include: 3 kg of pasta, 2 packs of rice, 2 packs of cereals (wheat, barley, or bulgur), 1 pack of sugar, 1 bottle of oil, 2 cans of stewed meat, 2 cans of fish, 2 pâtés, 1 pack of tea, and sweets (cookies, chocolate, or waffles).
We do not know what the situation in Kharkiv will be like tomorrow, next week, or next month, so we are ensuring that, even in the event of a blockade or other dire situations, we will be able to save the lives of these people from starvation.
Thanks to our cooperation with the social services of Kharkiv, we have all the necessary information to ensure that each package reaches its intended recipient. Each of the 1,025 kits will be delivered by the employees and volunteers of our organization to the homes of those in need and personally handed over to them.
The Ukrainian Charity Alliance team appeals to all compassionate people to help us raise funds to purchase these kits. We ask you to join us in providing essential products to those who have no one else to care for them.
