A boy from Vasylkiv was injured during shelling

May 18, 2025, was a tragic day for the town of Vasylkiv in the Kyiv region. It was then that the town was subjected to the largest-scale drone attack since the beginning of the full-scale war. One of the drones hit a residential building where Mark's family lived.

The 27-year-old mother of a little boy was killed by a direct hit. She died instantly, covering her son with her body. Mark's father miraculously survived and was almost unharmed. Their 4-year-old son, Mark, sustained a mine-blast injury and was immediately hospitalized in a local hospital in Vasylkiv.

After the first examination, the doctors made an emergency decision to evacuate the boy to the Kyiv Children's Hospital “OKHMATDYT”, where he arrived the next morning. The doctors' conclusion was disappointing, but not hopeless – the boy had sustained serious injuries that required complex and lengthy treatment and rehabilitation.

The boy's grandparents were also severely injured - they are in the hospital with shrapnel wounds. The family's house is completely destroyed and cannot be restored – it is to be demolished. All material things, home, comfort - everything was destroyed in an instant.

The worst part of this story is the loss that cannot be compensated for. Mark was left without his mom. She was the whole world to him. Now he is in the hospital, with his father by his side, trying to hold on to support his young son.

The family instantly lost not only their home, but also the ability to cover the costs of treatment, rehabilitation and basic living after the tragedy. According to the doctors, Mark needs long-term treatment and rehabilitation, which will require funds.
