Danyil is an active, lively boy. He is only five years old, very smart and well-behaved. He fell ill when he was three years old. His mother constantly asks the same question with tears in her eyes: "Why my child?". But there is no answer to this question, nor is there anyone to ask.
Type I diabetes is a disease that requires constant monitoring of blood sugar levels and a proper diet. This is very difficult for children who are actively growing and need a lot of energy. Danik is still small and wants to eat all kinds of treats. Instead, he has to endure many injections every day: he needs to take insulin several times a day, which the boy finds painful and does with tears in his eyes, but still with incredible courage.
Over the two years of his illness, the family has faced various situations: his sugar levels could often be four times higher than normal because Danyil would secretly eat something high in carbohydrates with his sisters, or, conversely, drop rapidly at night. This is terrible stress for the boy's body and his mother's nerves – he could lose consciousness or even fall into a coma. That is why his mother stays awake all night checking her son's sugar levels, and when they are too low, she has to wake him up and give him candy, honey, or juice.
Continuous glucose monitoring sensors free the mother from having to give up sleep for her son's safety, and Danyil from constant painful finger pricks. Like all children, the boy has many dreams and plans for the future. Help him make them come true!
