Disease tries to take away a child's health

A year ago, Timofii loved running outside with friends, riding a bike, and doing martial arts. Now every walk is difficult for him – the boy’s feet are deformed. To prevent progressive neuronal amyotrophy, he needs to undergo genetic testin.

Svitlana noticed that her son's feet had acquired an unnatural shape when they bought him spring shoes. The orthopedist diagnosed equinox-polo-varus foot deformity. From that moment on, the fight for Tymofii's health began.

The boy cannot stand on his heels, so he is forced to walk on the front of his foot. Tymofii had to give up martial arts, to which he devoted four years and achieved remarkable success.

Currently, he wears orthoses and orthopedic shoes, and also regularly takes rehabilitation courses. Soon, Tymofii will have an important consultation with an orthopedist, where the doctor will decide on the timing of the operation: now or wait until puberty.

Specialists suspect progressive neural amyotrophy. This is a serious genetic disease characterized by damage to the nerves and muscles, which leads to the loss of motor functions in the legs.

The child was scheduled for molecular genetic sequencing; the family plans to have it done at the specialized center "Mama Papa". If the diagnosis is confirmed, doctors will be able to prescribe the right treatment and stop the development of the disease.
