Dmytro is a wonderful, courageous boy. He was not even four years old when he was diagnosed with diabetes, which forces him to be mature, strong, and responsible: every day, he endures dozens of finger pricks and bravely copes with high and low blood sugar levels. Dima has been getting used to his diagnosis for four years now. And despite all the difficulties, he puts on his bravest smile every day and faces life with positivity.
Dmytro is the only child in the family, and his father is the sole breadwinner. The boy is in the fourth grade and loves soccer, which helps him keep his glucose levels normal. Every year, the boy is hospitalized for treatment and examination. However, the urgent need to monitor himself accompanies him outside the hospital walls: sugar swings, if he eats sweets, cause his blood sugar to rise, and if he eats sour foods, it drops. Every year, the boy is admitted to the hospital for treatment and examination. However, the urgent need to monitor himself accompanies him outside the hospital walls: sugar fluctuations, if not noticed, can have serious consequences.
Continuous glucose monitoring sensors help him avoid constant finger pricks and pain. Thanks to these sensors, any changes can be seen in real time, and any critical conditions can be avoided. However, such devices are very expensive and completely out of reach for the family.
