Kyrylo is a long-awaited and welcome child in the Levchenko family. His mother's pregnancy was uneventful, and the boy was born on time without any problems, with only a diagnosis of allergy to most infant formula. But at 6 months old, his parents noticed that Kyrylo sometimes squinted at his right eye and did not fix his gaze on toys. The mother went to the doctors, and they assured her that strabismus is common in children at an early age, and it would disappear by the time he was one year old. However, the vision problem did not go away. Only at the age of 3 did a local ophthalmologist diagnose Kyrylo with congenital cataracts. By then, Kyrylo could not see anything at all with his right eye.
A month later, the doctors at Kyiv's OKHMATDYT confirmed the diagnosis and offered a solution: Kirill was scheduled for microsurgery to replace the eye lens. This is his only chance for full vision. Kyrylo currently lives with his mother and older brother in the city of Nikopol. The city is constantly affected by shelling by the Russian army. The mother is raising two children on her own and is unable to cope with the financial costs of her son's ophthalmic treatment. She is begging for help.
