Oleg has had congenital defects from birth that significantly affect the development of his nervous system and motor functions. Doctors have diagnosed him with numerous serious conditions – Dandy-Walker anomaly, hydrocephalus, spastic tetraparesis, epilepsy, and portal hypertension – and the full list of diagnoses takes up seven lines in his medical records.
Oleg’s portal hypertension first appeared when he was just two years old. After a repeated episode of bleeding, he had to have his spleen removed, which became another serious challenge in his life.
Oleg is now 14 years old. He cannot speak, hold his head, or eat independently – he is completely dependent on the care of his parents, who love and protect him unconditionally.
In August of last year, Oleg was admitted to the ICU of the Regional Children’s Hospital due to gastrointestinal bleeding, and a few months later he developed complications – peritonitis. Since then, he has been in the hospital for over a year. His condition is currently severe but stable, and discharge home may be possible within a week.
For a long time, Oleg was fully dependent on a ventilator. Now he breathes through a tracheostomy and requires constant oxygen support. To return home, he needs an oxygen concentrator costing 25,800 UAH. This equipment is not just a device — it is Oleg’s chance to survive and get through this critically difficult period. Help Oleg breathe freely!
