Bohdan's story is not easy and has been full of trials since childhood. When the boy was only 9 years old, he experienced a severe loss, being left without a mother. Since then, his grandmother has been raising him. She made every effort to protect her grandson, because Bohdan's mother was diabetic. Grandma carefully monitored his diet, limiting what could harm his health. Bohdan listened to her advice, and this helped keep the situation under control. But one summer everything changed.
With the beginning of the holidays, the boy spent a lot of time on the lake, swimming in cold water, which eventually led to bronchitis and sinusitis. During treatment, Bohdan often drank sweet water and juices, which probably became an additional burden on the body. After discharge, tests showed a sharply increased blood sugar level. The condition was so serious that he was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit, and later to the regional hospital. There, Bohdan spent two weeks, after which he returned home with a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, severe form.
Since then, their life has changed dramatically. Daily training, control, anxiety and a constant struggle for a stable condition. Not everything works out at once, so the sugar level often remains high and this causes concern for the boy's health.
The family does not lose hope that thanks to sensors for constant monitoring of sugar levels, they will be able to better understand Bohdan's condition, avoid sharp fluctuations in sugar and reduce the risk of complications. But the grandmother alone cannot provide her grandson with monitoring. Any support is a big step towards Bohdan's stable health!
