Katia is a strong, courageous, and cheerful girl who fights a serious illness every day.
The girl was preparing for an important milestone in her life – Katrusia was about to start first grade. But suddenly her mother began noticing worrying changes: her daughter was losing weight rapidly, tiring quickly, and feeling worse and worse. After examinations, the family heard a diagnosis that divided life into "before" and "after" – type 1 diabetes. From that moment everything changed forever.
Katrusia started school, but she was still far too young to manage her condition independently. Her mother could not leave her for a single minute. Every day she sat outside the classroom door, ready to help at any moment – to measure her blood sugar, give her what she needed, offer support.
The family did everything to ensure that childhood remained childhood and would be remembered as full of joy, fun, and carefree moments. Katrusia began dancing, as movement helps to control blood sugar levels. She tried not to fall behind her peers, to find joy in every day, and to believe in better things.
For two years her mother was by her daughter's side at school. She eventually even managed to arrange work at the school itself, simply to be closer to Katerynka and able to monitor her condition. But life prepared new trials. Quarantine, isolation, distance learning, and then the full-scale war. Constant air raid alerts, stress, fear, and uncertainty left their mark on the child's condition – and therefore on her blood sugar levels. Classes are now mixed, but due to frequent and prolonged air raid alerts and Kateryna's unstable condition, her mother cannot work properly, as she is by her daughter's side at all times. Her condition requires continuous monitoring.
Life with type 1 diabetes is a daily battle with no days off and no breaks. It means constant blood sugar checks, insulin injections, dietary control, sleepless nights, and unrelenting worry about the child. To avoid dangerous blood sugar spikes and preserve Katrusia's health, continuous glucose monitoring sensors are absolutely vital for her. They allow her condition to be monitored in real time, reduce the risk of complications, and allow the child to live a safer and fuller life.
Unfortunately, her mother cannot provide Kateryna with sensors on her own. She is therefore sincerely asking for help: "Every contribution you make is a chance for my daughter to have health, a safe childhood, and a happy future."
