When two people are sick in the family

Maria grew up with her younger sister in carefree games, love and joy. She did not have any serious illnesses or health complications. But everything happened like other children diagnosed with diabetes. Sudden endless thirst and weight loss. Naturally, the concerned parents took the girl to the doctor. A few days later, Maria was hospitalized and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

No one in the family had this disease, so it came as a surprise. The situation in the family became much more complicated, and 3 weeks later, her younger sister, who is 3 years old, was diagnosed with diabetes. With two sick children, the parents live in a village where it is very difficult to find work. The children like to go to the river with their grandmother and play actively in the yard. They do not attend kindergarten because there is no one to monitor their condition. The parents are still forced to stay at home with their children, because they are afraid to be alone with both children.

When Maria was diagnosed with diabetes, she was 4 years old - a child of this age cannot yet imagine how her life will change. Constant finger pricks to measure blood sugar, insulin injections, scheduled meals, night feedings when sugar is low. Now the parents are trying to learn to live in a new way and compensate for diabetes so that there are no bad health consequences. But they can't afford to buy continuous monitoring sensors for Mariya. Her mother is asking for help. Mariya will be very happy when her fingers get some rest from the punctures. And may all children be healthy!
