Today, everyday life in Ukraine depends on electricity schedules. For the heroes of this fundraiser, electricity means life itself – the ability to breathe, hear, and move.
Sofiia will turn three this March. She has Krabbe disease and cannot breathe on her own. After being connected to a ventilator, she began to gain weight and develop. The ventilator was provided by a hospital on loan, and her life fully depends on this device. A charity donated one power station, but with current blackout schedules it cannot recharge in time, so her father has to carry it to a nearby supermarket to charge it. A second power station is urgently needed to prevent a fatal equipment failure.
Timur has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He stopped walking at ten and started using a CPAP device at twelve – without it, his breathing may stop during sleep. Recently, when power was restored, voltage surges nearly damaged the device. Timur studies online in the 9th grade, loves chemistry, biology, and geography, and dreams of becoming a doctor. He has been raised by his grandmother since he was three. He needs a power station to run his CPAP, cough assist device, electric wheelchair, and learning devices.
The Shevtsov family has three children. The younger twin sisters have severe hearing impairments. Katia has two cochlear implants; Kseniia has one implant and a hearing aid purchased on credit in December 2025. The girls even sleep with their implants on because they fear explosions and want to hear warning sounds. The implants are connected to phones via an app, so the phones also need to be charged at all times. There is not enough time when there is power supply to charge devices. Without electricity their home has no heating – indoor temperatures drop to 10-12°C.
These are just some of the stories of families who face considerable difficulties every day, and we want to help five families at once. That is why we are launching this fundraiser for charging stations for five families with children with disabilities.
Although the state plans to provide power stations later this year, this support will not arrive for several months. The children’s lives and safety are at risk right now.
Please support this fundraiser so children with disabilities can live without constant fear for tomorrow.
