Ten year old Illia has diabetes. The hardest thing for him is daily insulin injections. Often the boy is ready to refuse food so as not to have painful injections. An insulin pump will replace injections, will allow you to keep your sugar level under control and avoid severe complications. The cost of a pump is too much for a family.
Illia is active and inquisitive. He is fascinated by the boundless, mysterious cosmos. He loves to watch science programs, then shares his knowledge with his family and friends. The boy dreams of seeing the infinity of the Universe with his own eyes.
Illia is in the 5th grade. He enjoys learning and reciting poems, solving math problems, drawing, sculpting, and helping his mother with the housework.
Last summer, his life changed dramatically. The parents began to notice alarming changes in their son: Illia lost 5 kg, became lethargic, quickly tired, and was constantly thirsty. And on June 4, he complained to his mother about feeling unwell. Suddenly, he had a suffocation attack, and his relatives called an ambulance. The doctors took the child to the nearest hospital, but due to Illia's critical condition, they sent him to Dnipro, to intensive care. A blood test showed a glucose level of 20 mmol/l, compared to the norm of 5.
Now Illia's life consists of a strict diet, counting bread units, injecting insulin before each meal, and frequent finger pricks to control glucose levels.
The endocrinologist recommends using an insulin pump, since the disease is severe with frequent and sharp changes in glucose levels. They must be monitored in time to avoid serious risks to vision, kidneys, cardiovascular and nervous systems.
The pump will automatically administer the required dose of insulin throughout the day. This will not only save the boy from injections, but also literally prolong his life, protecting vital organs from the harmful effects of glucose "spikes".
Dear friends, let's raise the necessary amount to buy Ilya a pump and save him from painful injections and serious health risks!
