Kostia was born at the 26th week of pregnancy with a weight of only 1 kilogram. From the first minutes the baby fought for his life. The first intensive care team could not take him to the pediatric department of neonatal pathology, so his life was "in the balance". In the first month of life, this baby underwent intestinal surgery, he recovered for a long time and was on artificial ventilation for 47 days.

As a result: retinopathy of prematurity grade 4 and 4+. "Your child is blind, there is no chance", said to her mother the head of ophthalmology in Zaporozhye. "But we achieved it", says the mother, "and with the help of doctors from the department of pathology of newborns, my child was sent by sanitary aviation to Okhmadet. We were very lucky, time was not wasted and we fell into the golden hands of Yu.V. Barinov. Operations on two eyes were successful, the child was able to see".

In the first years, the mother and Kostik came monthly, then once every six months for examination and consultation. But the problems of little Kostia did not end there. The boy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, delayed psycho-speech development. Kostia went through two stages of leg plastering and is constantly engaged in the rehabilitation center. "Twice a year we undergo rehabilitation at the Kozyavkin clinic and at the Khadzhibey sanatorium", says the mother. "Kharkov Institute of Orthopedics helps us in the manufacture of orthoses for sleeping and walking".

At the moment, Kostia is walking on his toes, but after working out his feet, he can sink onto his heel for a while. At the last examination in "Okhmadet" Kostia was recommended to replace the lenses in both eyes. "The operation is complicated by the fact, explains the mother",  that in one eye the capsule that holds the lens has become unusable". To raise the child to his feet, the parents do their best: Kostia is engaged in the pool and on horseback, undergoes medication, wears orthopedic shoes, orthoses, wears lenses or glasses.

"Children often ask: what's wrong with his eyes? Why does it look like that? Can't he walk? And why does he walk on the toes?", says the mother about sore. "It's hard for Kostia to find friends. In playgrounds, he copies the behavior of other children. Builds with pleasure, plays and loves to listen to stories...".

In the family only the father works. He tries very hard to provide his son with necessary everything, but he himself has a visual disability (he sees only with one eye). The family is forced to turn to caring people for help. “It's hard to fight our grief financially and morally,” says the boy's mother. We believe that after the operation Kostya will see better, he will be able to go to school, he will run and see airplanes in the sky that he dreams of seeing, not hearing.
